Description

Czapek & Cie has introduced the Faubourg de Cracovie Crossroads, a new timepiece that bridges classic and modern design. The watch features a unique case design with hollowed lugs and pushers integrated into the crown guards. CEO Xavier de Roquemaurel explains that this chronograph is the only ongoing model in the collection, and it provided an opportunity to combine traditional craftsmanship with a modern, sporting edge through the introduction of a tachymeter.

Historically tied to motorsport, tachymeters calculate speed based on travel time or distance traveled based on speed. Though modern technology has reduced the tachymeter’s functional necessity, it remains a symbol of racing heritage and adds an element of fun, particularly on twisty roads. The Crossroads’ dial, designed to capture and reflect light, emphasizes beauty and harmony through intricate texturing.

For the guilloché pattern on the dial, Czapek partnered with Metalem to create a modern interpretation of the traditional craft. The new Crossroads pattern, featuring straighter, widely spaced, and deeply etched lines, gives the dial a sportier and more dynamic appearance, with a subtle resemblance to tire treads.

The name “Crossroads” not only describes this intersecting pattern but also symbolizes Czapek’s position at the intersection of traditional watchmaking and modern design. The Faubourg de Cracovie Crossroads is available in two dial colors: Deep Blue with contrasting counters and “Secret Alloy,” a 50-piece limited edition monochrome grey made from a blend of precious metals like platinum, gold, silver, and palladium.
