Description
The Ulysse Nardin Freak ONE OPS is an innovative twist on their original Freak ONE model. This new version boasts a 44mm diameter case made of black DLC titanium and features a unique khaki green color scheme that highlights the sunray-patterned barrel cover and the integrated rubber strap. The watch’s bezel is crafted from Carbonium®, a material with an excellent strength-to-weight ratio, sourced from carbon fiber offcuts from aircraft manufacturing, reducing environmental impact by 40% compared to traditional carbon composites. This technique results in a distinct marbled finish for each watch, enhancing its exclusivity.
The Freak ONE OPS distinguishes itself by lacking a conventional dial, showcasing the UN-240 Manufacture movement, which acts as the minute indicator through its flying carousel mechanism and features oversized blue silicon components for the oscillator and balance spring. This automatic movement ensures a 90-hour power reserve. The watch offers two strap options, both in black and khaki rubber, incorporating 30% recycled rubber, with clasps in black DLC titanium and black ceramic.
Breaking from traditional watch design, the Freak ONE OPS eliminates the need for standard hands. Instead, it uses a rotating disc for the hour indicator and the movement’s flying carousel as the minute indicator. The material choice of Carbonium® for the bezel and the use of recycled materials for the straps underscore Ulysse Nardin’s commitment to innovation and environmental sustainability. The Freak ONE OPS is a bold statement piece that combines daring design with technical excellence, highlighted by its unique time display mechanism and environmentally friendly materials.
