Description

Patek Philippe unveils the Reference 6159G-001, a contemporary evolution of its revered retrograde perpetual calendar complication. Housed in a 39.5 mm white gold case, this new Grand Complication balances modern design cues with time-honored watchmaking traditions. Its standout feature is a gray metallized sapphire crystal dial with a black-gradient rim, offering partial transparency that reveals the intricate workings beneath — including the date and moon-phase disks. The layered look is both technical and deliberate, ensuring clarity across a busy dial layout anchored by luminescent Dauphine hands and faceted baton markers in white gold.

The retrograde date mechanism, spanning a graceful 270° arc, is engineered to return smoothly to the first of the month without misalignment or mechanical strain. This transition is achieved by momentarily disengaging the date hand before its precise repositioning. The moon-phase indicator is no less precise, requiring correction only once every 122 years. Surrounding the dial, the bezel and case back are decorated in the Maison’s signature hobnail guilloché.

Inside, the self-winding caliber 26-330 S QR keeps the engine running with both reliability and finesse, visible through a sapphire exhibition back. The watch is completed by a black composite strap with a fabric-style texture and contrasting cream stitching, secured by a patented triple-blade fold-over clasp in white gold.
