Description

Patek Philippe has introduced the Reference 5308G-001, a white gold evolution of its acclaimed Grand Complication lineup. Building on the legacy of the 5208, this new model integrates four major complications—minute repeater, split-seconds chronograph, and instantaneous perpetual calendar—within a 42 mm case. First unveiled in platinum as a Tokyo 2023 limited edition, the 5308G now joins the regular collection in a sleek white gold configuration.

The Reference 5308G-001 is powered by the R CHR 27 PS QI caliber, a self-winding movement composed of 799 parts. This movement tackles the added complexity of a split-seconds chronograph, supported by an upgraded barrel and a platinum mini-rotor for increased winding efficiency. Two patented features—the anti-backlash chronograph wheel and an energy-saving split-seconds isolation system—underscore Patek Philippe’s commitment to functional innovation without compromising on elegance or acoustic performance, especially evident in its harmonious minute repeater chimes.

The dial, in a sophisticated sunburst ice-blue, sets the tone for the piece’s contemporary yet classic appeal. It hosts applied hour markers, faceted Dauphine hands, and a calendar layout that instantaneously jumps in just 30 milliseconds—an impressive feat even by perpetual calendar standards. The polished case with openworked lugs, coupled with a navy-blue alligator strap and a patented fold-over clasp, balances Haute Horlogerie with daily wear comfort. The 5308G-001 replaces the outgoing 5208R-001.
