Description

IWC Schaffhausen expands its Ingenieur Automatic 40 line with a full 18-carat 5N gold edition, introduced at Watches and Wonders Geneva 2025. Drawing from the DNA of Gérald Genta’s 1970s Ingenieur SL, the latest reference IW328702 merges legacy design codes with modern updates. The 40mm case, bezel, crown, case back ring, and integrated bracelet are crafted entirely from 5N gold, offering a uniform design that highlights the blend of polished and satin-finished surfaces throughout.

The black “Grid” dial, defined by its geometric texture of lines and squares, adds visual depth and tactile intrigue. Applied gold hour markers and gold-plated hands are set by hand and treated with Super-LumiNova®, enhancing legibility in low light. The bracelet’s integration via middle links ensures an great fit, while functional screws secure the bezel, staying true to the original Ingenieur’s industrial spirit.

Beneath the sapphire-glass case back, the in-house calibre 32111 delivers a 120-hour power reserve, driven by a double pawl winding system. Finishing details include Geneva stripes, blued screws, and a gold-plated oscillating weight.
