Description
In celebration of its 35th anniversary and the 15th anniversary of its iconic Tourbillon calibre, Frederique Constant has released a unique watch, the Classic Tourbillon Meteorite Manufacture. Limited to 35 pieces, each is finished by hand and features a meteorite dial encapsulated in a platinum case. The meteorite dial, sourced from a fragment that fell in Gibeon, Namibia, is meticulously crafted to a thickness of 0.5mm and coated with ruthenium to prevent oxidation and enhance its natural appearance.
The timepiece’s movement is a testament to exceptional craftsmanship, with all components, even those hidden, meticulously hand-finished by specialized watchmakers. Traditional tools and techniques, such as diamond polishing on a zinc plate, have been employed to achieve the highest degree of hand-finishing, in line with Haute Horlogerie standards.
Each timepiece, enclosed in a 39mm platinum case, showcases a Manufacture FC-980 tourbillon movement, visible at the rear, and possesses a 38-hour power reserve. The use of silicon parts in the movement minimizes the energy required for operation. This release signifies not just a limited edition, but a collection of 35 uniquely crafted pieces, marking a significant enhancement in Frederique Constant’s manufacturing quality and craftsmanship.
