Description

Bulgari’s Divas’ Dream Peacock collection, launched in 2017, continues to evolve with new interpretations that showcase the brand’s proficiency in jewelry, artisanal crafts, and horological complications. This collection highlights the peacock, a symbol of beauty and confidence, which is a key element in Bulgari’s bestiary. The intricate designs of the collection draw inspiration from the peacock’s feathers, featuring arabesques and curves that echo the mosaic patterns found in the Baths of Caracalla, integral to Bulgari’s design language.

Jean-Christophe Babin, CEO of Bulgari, in the book “Bulgari Beyond Time,” asserts that the brand has elevated the Swiss concept of métiers d’art through this collection. The Divas’ Dream Peacock range is part of Bulgari’s larger ‘Animali fantastici’ bestiary, which also includes the ‘Serpenti’ collection, symbolizing mysterious seduction with its serpent motif. In contrast, the Peacock collection embodies elegance and grandeur, reflecting the same sublime qualities as the natural peacock.

The Divas’ Dream Peacock Feather Marquetry by Bulgari is a tribute to the blue peacock’s luxurious plumage. Featuring twelve vividly colored feathers on the dial, each with ‘eyes’ symbolizing wisdom, these feathers, also known as ‘hairs,’ are naturally shed by the peacock and collected for their exceptional colors and textures. The feathers are inlaid using an ancient technique, revived by Bulgari in the 1970s, which was prominent during the Renaissance in Italy. The process is highly meticulous and time-consuming, requiring simple tools like a magnifying glass, tweezers, knife, and scissors, and takes several days. Each feather is treated in an antique brass steam machine to enhance its natural sheen and then intricately cut, assembled, glued, and shaped into a mosaic that glistens with silky reflections.
