Description

Albishorn continues its journey through the annals of horology with the Thundergraph, a chronograph designed as if it were the ultimate tool watch for the Swiss 1952 Mount Everest expedition. This “Imaginary Vintage®” timepiece fills a hypothetical gap in history, blending mid-century design with modern craftsmanship. The concept? A rugged yet elegant alpine chronograph, built to withstand extreme cold, altitude, and the unforgiving elements of the Himalayas.

The Thundergraph’s dial is a masterclass in readability and vintage-inspired design. Featuring the “California ghost” dial, it maintains the iconic split layout but omits Arabic numerals in favor of two strategically placed subdials. Luminescent hands, oversized Roman numerals, and triangular indexes ensure visibility in low-light conditions, while the oversized conical bezel—designed for easy grip with gloves—adds both form and function. The crown at 10:30 and monopusher at 9:30 reflect thoughtful ergonomics, allowing for seamless operation even in harsh conditions.

Under the hood, the Thundergraph houses a proprietary hand-wound chronograph movement, developed in La Chaux-de-Fonds and certified by COSC for superior accuracy. With an ultra-thin 5.70 mm movement height and an impressive 65-hour power reserve, it recalls the golden age of Swiss chronographs while delivering modern precision. The stainless steel case, optional bronze crown, and engraved case back (featuring a Swiss cross and rope motif) reinforce its alpinist heritage.

From its historically inspired roots to its tool-watch practicality, the Albishorn Thundergraph is a tribute to mountaineering history. The chronograph that might have been—but thanks to Albishorn, now is.
